Kelly Goode, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, will be joining our primary care nurse practitioner faculty. Goode is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She has clinical expertise in cardiology for the last ten years, with a specialty in heart failure for the last eight years. She has been working at Northeast Medical Group since 2017. Before her role at Northeast Medical Group, Goode practiced in both inpatient and outpatient cardiology at St. Vincents Medical Center, also serving as a Hospitalist. Her nursing experience also includes many years in the medical/surgical intensive care unit at St Vincents Medical Center.

As an educator, Goode has served as adjunct faculty at Quinnipiac since 2024. She also serves as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students, training them in the cardiology environment. Dr. Goode's educational background includes a doctor of nursing practice from Quinnipiac in 2021. She also holds a masters degree as a family nurse practitioner from Fairfield University in 2013 and completed her undergraduate nursing education at Southern Connecticut State University.

Jennifer Hoey, DNP, APRN, will be joining us as a clinical assistant professor. Hoey earned her bachelors of science in nursing and master of science in nursing from Jacksonville University. She is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a background in outpatient mental health care. She completed her psychiatric residency with the Department of Veterans Affairs in New Haven, CT. Hoey received her doctor of nursing practice degree from Salve Regina University where her project focused on screening for loneliness in the outpatient setting.

Hoey has served as an adjunct clinical instructor at the Jacksonville University School of Nursing and brings clinical expertise from her time with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense. Hoey’s international experience includes school health roles in the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, enriching her ability to address diverse student needs. She coordinated an outreach initiative to obtain and deliver hygiene products for a clinic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Her interest in travel began as an undergraduate nursing student when she joined a school trip to the United Kingdom and spent time learning in a British hospital. Hoey values international exposure and diverse healthcare approaches, encourages her students to learn from different systems and cultures and believes that immersive experiences can strengthen connections and understanding. She is committed to broadening nursing education through cultural learning and openness to transformative experiences that enrich care. Hoey grew up in Connecticut and will be coming to Quinnipiac from St. Marys, Georgia. 

Christina Matousek, DNP, RN, OCN,will be starting as a clinical assistant professor, supporting both the master of science in nursing (MSN) and bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) programs. Her scholarly work focuses on the wellbeing of new graduate nurses transitioning into practice, as well as the standardization of orientation practices for newly hired staff. Her work has been published and presented at multiple regional and national conferences.

Prior to joining Quinnipiac, Matousek spent nearly twenty years at Yale New Haven Health and Smilow Cancer Hospital as a bedside staff nurse in medical, hematologic and surgical oncology, as well as the surgical intensive care unit. In 2020, she transitioned into hospital-based nursing education, where she was a nursing professional development specialist and created and managed the inaugural new graduate RN and APP fellowship program in ambulatory oncology. Most recently, she has worked as a patient education specialist in oncology at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Matousek’s academic teaching experience includes serving as an adjunct nursing clinical supervisor at Sacred Heart University, where she taught in the clinical, laboratory and simulation settings.

Matousek earned her bachelors of arts in psychology from the University of Connecticut, her diploma of nursing from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, her masters in nursing science in education from Sacred Heart University, and her doctor of nursing practice from the University of Connecticut. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is an oncology certified nurse (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.

Lauren Mitchell, DNP, FNP-BC, will be joining our primary care nurse practitioner faculty. Mitchell is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with over 16 years of diverse nursing experience and a strong commitment to clinical education and mentorship. Mitchell earned her bachelors of science in nursing from the University of Delaware. She also obtained her masters of science in nursing in clinical nurse leadership and doctor of nursing practice from Sacred Heart University. Her clinical background spans urgent care, outpatient dialysis, general medicine and critical care, including eight years in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she developed expertise in managing complex cardiac patients.

Mitchell has also served as the primary healthcare provider for youth at Hartford Juvenile Detention, reflecting her dedication to caring for underserved and vulnerable populations. These experiences inform her holistic and patient-centered approach to both practice and teaching. Mitchell’s dissertation research focused on sunscreen and skin cancer education in African American women. Her scholarly and professional interests also include addressing dermatologic health disparities among people of color, advancing cardiac surgery care and contributing to evidence-based practice and research. Passionate about preparing the next generation of nurses, Mitchell has extensive experience as a clinical preceptor, guiding undergraduate nursing students in both simulation and clinical settings. She is committed to fostering critical thinking, clinical competence and professional growth in her students.
